I recently went Apple picking with a coworker, which I hadn’t done since I was a kid. Unfortunately for us, it was absolutely frigid and we only had 20 minutes to pick (as we went right after work this week).
With so many apples, the first thing I decided to make was some homemade applesauce. I figured besides having some to eat, I could use it in my zucchini breakfast muffins (recipe coming soon)!
So, here is the quick and easy recipe!
Pick/buy 14 apples – I used a mix of kinds since while picking I just threw them all together
Peel the apples
Cut into quarters or use an apple slicer like pictured (I got mine from Bed, Bath and Beyond)
Place apples, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp cinnamon, 1 tbsp lemon juice and 1/2 cup water into your crockpot
Cook on high for 3-4 hours until apples are soft and almost frothy
Enjoy! Serve warm or put in the fridge/can it for later!
